The Prince Sultan Cardiac Centre, Riyadh
The Prince Sultan Cardiac Centre is located within the grounds of the Military Hospital in Riyadh (RMH). At one stage it used to be part of the Hospital until it was decided to build a new hospital and expand the facilities. The Centre was opened in 1992 and now provides a major portion of the cardiac treatment in the Kingdom with a full range of diagnostic and management facilities for patients ranging in age from the neonate through to the elderly. The institution has an excellent reputation both in the Gulf and the West for the quality of it's patient care and the results achieved.
The Centre is a four story, five level building designed to accommodate 158 beds. As a tertiary centre for the Kingdom the new facility provides cardiology patients and cardiac surgery services with a highly sophisticated computerised intensive care charting system.
Clinical Facilities
The Hospital contains four clinical departments: Adult Cardiology, Paediatric Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery and Cardiac Anaesthesia and ICU. The Nursing service division has its own management structure under the Director of Nursing. Cardiac Technicians, Respiratory Therapists, Anaesthetic Technicians, Perfusion Technicians and Catheter Laboratory Radiographers each have their own superintendent.
The Hospital places a major emphasis on education and training, Symposia, workshops and specific training courses, which include distinguished international speakers, are held regularly within the faculty.
Accommodation
Furnished accommodation is provided. All utilities except long distance calls are also free. Accommodation is either in the Hospital compound for single femalesor in off-site at Al Khozama compound approx 20 - 30 mins away.
Transport is provided to and form work as well as a number of shopping buses per week to various locations in the city. The compound has it's own restaurant, gym, sauna and pool.
Recreation Centre
Staff working for the Prince Sultan Cardiac Centre share the same facilities provided for the staff of the Military Hospital in Riyadh. The Recreation Centre is in the Hospital grounds.
The department offers recreational and leisure opportunities to a wide range of interests and age groups:
- Sport and physical recreation, swimming, tennis, gymnasium and aerobics.
- Social and cultural recreation; video and book library
- As well as in-house events the department promotes activities taking place in and around Riyadh and other parts of Saudi Arabia and include international football matches at The King Fahad International Stadium, camel races, visits to the ancient cities, old palaces and museums.
There are a number of restaurants in the hospital grounds ranging in quality from staff cafeterias and snack bars to A La Cart Dining.
A travel agency and a bank are also available on the premises.
